8 · Commission and settlement

Who acts: platform finance staff, then the supplier. Starts with: the end of a month. Ends with: the supplier's commission invoice paid.

LCPP earns a commission from suppliers on the orders they complete through the platform. Buyers never pay it, and it never touches the buyer's payment.

What counts

  • Only signed-off orders count. An order that was cancelled, rejected or never signed off earns nothing.
  • Each supplier's contract sets the rates, usually a percentage per product category.
  • Returns and credits from accepted corrections reduce the base.

The monthly cycle

  1. Preview. Finance sees each supplier's signed-off sales, rates and commission for the month.
  2. Two approvals. Two different staff members approve the run. No one can approve a run twice.
  3. Invoices. Each supplier receives a commission invoice with a due date and the orders it covers.
  4. Payment. The supplier pays and reports the transfer reference. Finance confirms receipt and marks it paid.

Invoice statuses

StatusMeaning
DueIssued and waiting for payment
Payment reportedThe supplier says it paid; finance is checking
PaidFinance confirmed the money arrived
OverduePast the due date and not paid
DisputedThe supplier questions some entries; finance reviews them

When it goes wrong

  • Overdue invoices get reminders. If they stay unpaid, the platform can pause the supplier's listings until they are paid.
  • Disputed entries are reviewed by finance and corrected on the next invoice if needed.
  • Leakage, deals moved off the platform to avoid commission, is watched for. See trust and oversight.
